Electronic Art's Rock Band isn't the only music game to unveil songs today. Activision has announced (via press release) eleven new master tracks for the upcoming Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. American audiences may not recognize many of these songs and artists, as they are more international hits. New songs include:
In Flames...that's cool. I got to see them a few years ago when they toured with Mudvayne. I had no clue who they were but I really dug their show. Grade 8 was on that tour as well and it would be cool to see some of their stuff in a game. Actually I would love to see some Mudvayne on a GH title (I don't want to hear people try those vocals).
I am thinking that Legends of Rock refers to the boss battles, like when you play against Slash. The game has you competing against rock idols in order for you yourself to become a rock legend.
kaiser chiefs are pretty big in America now. That song ruby is on alternative radio stations where I live. That being New england. Also, isn't inflames a metal band? I don't think they are a European hit. I could be mistaken.

This sounds great, I'm glad they're actually choosing good songs by less-known bands in the US than filling it up with name stuff like "Bad Reputation."
I meant in Guitar Hero of course. Simple stuff can be fun in real life, but not in GH. It's why people playing on Expert hate coming down a difficulty.
And I've played a real bass guitar for a long time and I've played violin for 7 years, so I know what I'm talking about.
I love Die Toten Hosen! I may actually finally jump on the GH bandwagon (not really though).
But seriously, if you are at all interested in German Rock, pick up the album Auswärtsspiel. It even has a couple songs in English. The album is amazing.
Die toten Hosen kicks butt. I'm praying this gives them some kind of link in the US so I don't have to order their CDs for 50 bucks a pop... Otherwise I have to drive 5 hours to my uncle's house and burn his CD collection..... Which isn't a bad idea now that I think about it......
WOW HEROES DEL SILENCIO! its one of my favorite bands... too bad that isnt the best of their songs. Now, this is the best: http://youtube.com/watch?v=RUGA0Ea0qDk
I have a feeling that the Guitar hero franchise is going downhill. Save the Kaiser Chiefs, In Flames, and Lacuna Coil. I can garuntee you that if I asked 10 random people if they have heard of any of the other bands on this new list I'd get a 10 big fat "NO"s. Even if I included those three bands, I'd still get 7 "NO"s.
On a side note, Superbus is the coolest band name I've heard in a long time, and that video is completely awesome.
You are wrong... seriously. Heroes del Silencio is most famous that any of the others band... maybe not here, but in Spain, and almost the entire American continent.
Its one of the greates bands of al times.
Just check this Wikipedia quote:
"Héroes del Silencio is a Spanish rock band from Zaragoza (Aragon, Spain) formed by Enrique Bunbury. In the 1990s they experienced great success around Spain and The Americas, and various European countries, such as Germany, Belgium, Switzerland or France, becoming one of the most successful Spanish Acts in history of The Rock En Español Scene. After ten years and numerous albums, the band broke up in 1997. In 2007, as part of a 20-year anniversary celebration and 10 years after their break-up, they are participating in a 10-concert world tour."
What exactly is wrong with getting talent that is relatively unknown? We've ALL heard big names like Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc. Doesn't mean no one else can rock that hard. In any case, these songs are for our friends across the pond more than anything. They play Guitar Hero, too, ya know!
"They are considered the most important Rock band in Spain for a number of reasons: one, if for the great conmotion and fans that they created (the most loyal fans as quoted on "El Ruido y La Furia" DVD) and the other reason is because they were the first Spanish band that was famous and kept on doing their lyrics in Spanish (although the booklets in the CDs have lyrics in both Spanish and English). This made them win recognition from the King of Spain for distributing the Spanish language around the world."
You realize that just because you like them, doesn't mean everyone has heard of them right Fernando Cocker? Its a fan boy like you who wrote that on Wiki.
where's the KILLSWITCH love? we gotta get some killswitch engage on guitar hero eventually man! they themselves are rock GODS... even if the song is "The End Of Heartache" it would be SO amazing to rock out with howard and the boys!
and YES In Flames is a metal band... and YES they deserve the title of "Rock Legends" for reasons stated above.
I'm diggin' on the new tracks. International flavor is always better - try and ignore the audience that says only U.S. rock is welcomed. Yes, we have some good bands, but so does everyone else.
Sigh. I don't know any of these bands and can't recognize any songs. Could be explained that I just listen to music on the radio only when outside at the stand.
In Flames and Lacuna Coil are the shit. I have been waiting a long time for the Guitar Hero franchise to get either of those bands. At first, I was on the hedge about purchasing GHIII but those two songs just made me a solid buyer. I am ashamed that people don't know who Lacuna Coil is, Cristina Scabbia is a Goddess among mice.
It's about time that Harmonix considered some of the more...dare I say, obscure European rock/metal bands out there. (At least to us Americans, but at least I know better) Though I would have liked to have seen something from Sonata Arctica(Wolf & Raven, anyone? *grins*) or Nightwish...or at least before they kicked Tarja Turunen out of the band. I'm thinking something like Crownless or Sacrament of Wilderness would do. I don't know about the new stuff though...if Once was any indication, then I'll pass.
At least GH3 answered one of my prayers and gave us more metal, so I'm happy in that respect.
It's not xenophobia, its wanting to play songs that are at least slightly familiar to you, which I am sure is the same reason why non-American fans of Guitar Hero will appreciate the inclusion of these tracks (assuming they like the band).
As it stands for me, I've heard of none of these bands, and moreover, after listening to all the songs, I only liked ONE off the whole spate of tracks.
Sorry, but Rock Band just keeps looking more and more superior to GHIII.
Well sorry that all the songs aren't familiar to you. Maybe THAT should be the incentive to play the game: expose yourself to other talents. If you don't like 'em, tough shit. I'm sure you checked out those songs thinking, "Who are these people? Why couldn't they get people I've heard before? I'll give 'em a shot, but I don't expect much," rather than, "New bands! There might be a good band or two in there! I gotta see this!" Perspective going into it makes all the difference.
Dammit! I need a 360 now, I recognize most of those bands. Any possible way they might add a couple other UK bands? XD I can name several I want in GH3. ^^; (And, I'm from the US, by the way.)
