Microsoft joins Sony saying no thanks to E for All

GameIndustry.biz has apparently confirmed that Microsoft will not be attending the E for All expo in LA at the end of October. Microsoft joins Sony now in ignoring the event organized by IDG World Expo, which was intended as a consumer-based replacement for E3. Sega, Capcom, SOE and Midway (who probably couldn't afford it anyway) will also not be attending.

On the bright side of things, Nintendo and Electronic Arts have confirmed their attendance. They'll be joined by Konami, THQ, Namco Bandai and others. With Microsoft and Sony's non-attendance, this event would have been a total bust without Nintendo. Makes you wonder what it took for them to be an anchor? We're not saying anything, we're just asking.

Sony: nintendo or microsoft arn't showing any hardware, no point of going then.

microsoft: we got all the exclusives we want at the moment.

Really it went like this

Nintendo: LOL thanks for the Money you have given us to attend! And we get to send home the same idea we are for every type of gamer LOL PR HEAVEN! Time to expand to a new money bank.

Sony: HELLS NO! We are taking no chances on some vindictive A-hole reporter kicking the crap out of our games for fun,(even if it might be true). These E3 things have not turned out well for us the last few years. And those Bastards at MS keep griefing us.

Microsoft: Guys we got nothing, and no reason to go. Sony won't be there so there is no reason to grief them. Mark the calender for our next Sony Griefing? Good set course and make it so, ENGAGE!

If this really does become the next big consumer-oriented show (I doubt it), Sony and Microsoft will be kicking themselves later.

It would be like saying they don't care about their fans by not attending.

But, they don't.

Of course not. No corporation cares about it's consumers despite what fanboys think. But it's good PR to PRETEND they do.

They're probably focusing their efforts on a good show at TGS, especially Microsoft. They have no time to worry about a convention that might never take off.

Considering Nintendo has their own bland concert series (Fusion Tour), I'm not suprised they refuse to back down. Nintendo's a media whore, always has been. And now that people are paying attention, it's no longer a situation of Hiroshi Yamauchi preaching the awesomeness of the N64 to a room full of little leaguers.

Bollocks.

Nintendo's the one company everyone's always complaining about being too secretive. One of the biggest complaints people had about the N64 era was Nintendo's reluctance to spend big on television advertising and such. For comparison, one of the first announcements of the Xbox project was that they were spending $500 million dollars pushing the brand. Did you ever hear Nintendo do anything like that? Maybe now, but certainly not way back when.

This just says to me what I've suspected for a while this gen.

Nintendo caters to consumers.

Microsoft caters to developers.

No one knows what exactly Sony caters to.

Seriously, they're a ship of fools whose captain is a lunatic that answers to an imaginary Admiral from Mars who has dreams of universal conquest... Wait, that sounds like the plot to a lame sci-fi movie... And yet, it's the only description that fits...

Think of it this way by the time this event goes on most of MS first party titles will be out, the majority of titles are either 3rd party or 2nd party which will most likely be there under the specific publisher

Nintendo has to be there a 3rd party is so weak

PAX is the next consumer-oriented show... E3's already been filled...

If Nintendo gains a monopoly in not only marketshare but mindshare as well, it's not their fault.

Remember that, every company not showing up.

Seriously, I like how the PS3 is shaping up better than how I see the 360, but Sony themselves are so totally lost anymore.

Well it's not a total loss, at least there will be some publishers and one console manufacturer. Now the real question is the price of ticket justified?

What nice news! The media will have no choice but to focus on all the important news this time around.
